Teacher Week ’13: Let’s Talk About Me Monday

Yay!!! It's Teacher Week '13 at Blog Hoppin' and my fellow Blog Hoppin' authors are excited to share another week of FUN with you… best part is, you get to join us by linking up each day!!

Here's this week's schedule:
So let's get started!!!
{10 things about Kristen}
1. I've wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl.  I was that kiddo who took the leftover book orders, markers, and supplies out of my teachers' trashcans to play “school” at home.
2. I've been fortunate enough to live in some amazing places.
 {San Clemente, California sunset}
{Del Mar Avenue on the way to the pier}
{This was my backyard when I lived on the south shore of O'ahu}
3. I was lucky enough to teacher THE most amazing first graders for a year in Hawaii Kai, Hawaii.
{I miss all the leis the kiddos would bring}
{I was offered a job in Hawaii and moved 2 weeks later with just two boxes, two pieces of luggage, my dog Marley, and my surfboard}
4. I've had this adorable little man in my life for the last seven years.  Marley is a handful, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
5. I love to travel to tropical places and have been all over the world.  I've loved Australia, Hawaii, El Salvador, the Maldives (2x), Costa Rica (2x), Bali, Thailand, Tahiti, the Bahamas (3x,) Cabo and Mainland Mexico.
{Maldives}
{Tahiti}
6. My most favorite trip was traveling to Thailand with my best friend {also a teacher}.

7. I met my best friend last year and am the happiest I've ever been.  It's so nice to meet someone who is so genuine, kind, and patient.  I'm pretty lucky!
{Pirate Party}
{Fun in Cabo}
{NYE '13}
8. If I wasn't a teacher, I'd love to be an interior designer.  I love decorating, rearranging things, and making things pretty!

9. Family is the most important thing to me.  I value my time with them and absolutely love the times I get to facetime with my niece, who lives in Indiana.

10. Grilled cheese is my absolute favorite meal in the work.  It's got to be basic, just cheddar cheese on white bread is the best!

Thanks for reading a little about me.  As a way of thanking you, I've got a sale going one as.we.speak!
My name is Kristen and I’ve enjoyed teaching kindergarten, first grade, a 1/2 combo, and second grade.  I’ve taught at both a low and high-performing Title I schools as well as a few fancy schools in California and O’ahu, Hawaii. I’ve earned my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading in addition to my Reading Specialist Certificate.  When I am not teaching my scholars or other educators at Professional Development classes, I  enjoy creating materials to share with my colleagues, organizing family literacy events, and giving workshops on ways to make Literacy Workshop effective and engaging.

    1. Lindsay,
      I love, love, love your blog name! I too love the Bachelorette and am excited about Juan Pablo. Wasn't crazy about this season though.

    1. Lauren,
      I've been incredibly fortunate to travel. This is my first summer staying in the States. Loved your blog and how you set up your "Teacher Week" posts. I'm also in love with New Girl, have all of season 1 on DVD!

    1. Laurie,
      I'm super fortunate…where to next? Teaching in Hawaii was a dream and I made sure to take advantage of the beauty. I made it a point to try not to be a workaholic and leave at a reasonable hour to hike, surf, or play in the outdoors!
      Mahalo,
      Kristen
