First day of first grade GIVEAWAY!!!

Here's what you need to make a #1 (I had to improvise since there were only numbers and shapes) as a photo prop with your students.  On the first day of school, have your kiddos hold up the #1 (or whatever # depending on what you're teaching) and take a cute photo.  I'm going to put it on the cover of their memory book.

I bought all of these materials at Michaels
Cute scrap paper (I used 4 sheets)
wooden number or letter
Mod Podge
Mod Podge or paint sponges
Paper cutter or scissors
Next, I measured the wooden “1” to determine the length of each piece of scrap paper needed.
Here are the 4 strips I cut out using the paper cutter.
Next, I aligned the paper with the wood and drew a faint line on the paper to know where to cut.
These are the 4 squares that I'm going to Mod Podge onto the wood.
I thought it would be easier to use a bowl for the Mod Podge.  It worked best to take the lid off and squeeze it into the bowl instead of with the lid on.
If you LOVE this, you can enter to win one!

I’ve earned my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading in addition to my Reading Specialist Certificate.  When I am not teaching my scholars or other educators at Professional Development classes, I  enjoy creating materials to share with my colleagues, organizing family literacy events, and giving workshops on ways to make Literacy Workshop effective and engaging.
