Five for Friday and a Blog Design Giveaway

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.  This is the 2nd week of summer and it's been incredibly lazy and a little bit productive.
My parents were in town briefly and we finally got to give my grandma a final farewell {totally illegal I'm sure}.  She was a sassy lady who sure loved the heck out of her grandkids.  She bailed me out of a Mexican jail last year and didn't tell my mom.  The shock in her voice when I called her later that week.  She was confused and acting strange and I was confused thinking grandma might have opened up a bottle of vino.  Poor grandma was scammed and wired 2,000 to the Philippines to rescue me.   But that's the kind of lady she was.  She used her savings to help me.  In the end she was happy I wasn't really in jail and I was happy that she didn't let me rot!
I spent the weekend in San Diego {the Mr. lives there} and we headed to Balboa Park for some dog walking, a little hill running, and lots of people watching.
There were lily pads planted in planters beneath the water.  It was gorgeous!
I was so honored and super nervous to be a guest on Sheila's blog radio show.
Sprinkle Teaching Magic

We talked about Go Noodle, teaching a combo, layoffs, and teaching in Hawaii.  I can't wait to meet her in real life and have some wine.  Plus, this interview really impressed my parents.  They had no idea I was so smart {thanks mom, I think?}!  If you haven't listened yet, you can here.

I also got an awesome blog make over thanks to Courtney at Blogs Fit For a Queen!!!

She was incredibly easy to work with and listened to what I truly wanted.  My blog was ready in 3 days and only cost 50 bucks.  Yep, just 50.  INCREDIBLE!!!She's incredibly humble and she's only 18!!!  When I was 18, I was definitely not designing blogs.  This girl has serious TALENT!  In honor of my new blog and Courtney's insane skills, we're holding a giveaway.

Now that I'm able to workout again, I'm trying to be healthier.  I am a carbmaniac and don't feel full unless I've had some sort of bread.  Don't judge!!!
I had plain Greek yogurt from Trader Joes, sprinkled it with a little trivia because plain yogurt is gross.  I added organic strawberries, blueberries, and a banana.  I've also been loving fruit-infused water the last few weeks.  I just cut up whatever fruit I have and throw it in a pitcher.  I haven't figured out if you're suppose to eat the fruit in the pitcher once the water is gone, or toss it.  Anyone know?
I also subjected little Marley to my runs again and he was loving it.  Anytime he walks by people they smile. Bu yesterday, even the other runners were smiling watching his little feet keep up as his tongue hung out of his mouth and a huge pile of drool hung from his lips.  He was quite the sight to see and by the time we got home, we both struggled walking up the steps.  I'm going to take him more often if he stops yapping at every dog we come in contact with!
Shoot, now that I look at it, my week was more productive than I thought.  Maybe it's because I keep seeing everyone getting crafty and creating things for the class.  Come on people, I'm all for it but we deserve a break too.  This tired teacher will no longer feel guilty for catching up on TV and some couch time!  It's summer and I deserve a break, dangit!

  1. Thank goodness! I was reading that last paragraph and thought to myself, that's it! I deserve a real break! I'm sure I'll get bored after watching tv and lounging in a week and I can get started, but I don't need to force myself! Enjoy the break! I'm sure I'll see you sometime soon!

  2. Kristen I love what a great week you had!! Your breakfast does look yummy (other than the yogurt! 🙂 I can't do yogurt at all, and I don't know why.) That's crazy that your grandma wired money to someone and they were totally selling you off!! I'm glad you were okay too! I posted a link on IG for your giveaway!! I hope I win! http://instagram.com/p/pL8EPjF9Qz/

  3. Love your new design! You're really tempting me for a new makeover myself! Fingers crossed!
We are loving out infused water this summer. Cucumber, lemon, mint is our fav! Never tried doctoring up my own yogurt though. Too lazy, I guess, but I bet it's so much better for you!

  4. The cool, coastal colors of your new design are so soothing! Don't you just love Courtney! She designed my new FB cover page, and I would love to win the giveaway! I'd use the prize package to create a blog for my classroom…something I've wanted to do for a long time! Thanks for the opportunity! Your dog is a cutie-patootie! Enjoy your summer!

    1. Hi Jennifer!
A classroom blog is a great idea. I've had one for a few years and my parents and their families always comment that they love being able to see what is going on every day! Good luck to you!

  5. I don't know how to share the link for an instagram photo…but I did tag you in it so hopefully you'll see it.
I hope I win, cause my blog definitely does not reflect me, and I don't have any extra money to pay for a design. :-/
    Crossing my fingers!
