March Read Alouds for Primary Grades

I want to share with you one of my favorite series as part of this March Read Alouds post.  Not because it has a lot of depth and requires a lot of thinking, but because it's fun!  The “There was an Old Lady” books remind me of my childhood and my students think they're hilarious.

If we did a close read or really analyzed this book, things might get weird because honestly, why does she eat everything and then somehow burp it all up in the end??

But let's not get into that.  Instead, I want to share with you a few fun activities that my students really enjoy with this book {This post contains Amazon Affiliate links: I am compensated for sharing my recommendations}.

For March, There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover will be sure to bring out the giggles in your students!

This book is perfect for your Read Aloud or Listening Center time.  I've gathered my favorite art project that we do in our class to supplement this silly story!  I love that you can implement these into your center time, a parent center table, and art.  If you've seen my past Books Teachers Love posts, you know I will find a way to tie academics into art.

My name is Kristen and I’ve enjoyed teaching kindergarten, first grade, a 1/2 combo, and second grade.  I’ve taught at both a low and high-performing Title I schools as well as a few fancy schools in California and O’ahu, Hawaii. I’ve earned my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading in addition to my Reading Specialist Certificate.  When I am not teaching my scholars or other educators at Professional Development classes, I  enjoy creating materials to share with my colleagues, organizing family literacy events, and giving workshops on ways to make Literacy Workshop effective and engaging.
