We polled teachers inside our Easy Organization Tools program to see how they’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day this school year since it looks a lot different this year, right? Here are their pandemic Valentine’s Day ideas in the classroom!
In the past in my second grade classroom, students would create their valentine box as a take-home STEAM Challenge. Students would use the class list to address their valentines. On February 14th, I’d put on a Discover Ed. video for 25 minutes and each table group would get a chance to pass out their valentines. Only 1 group would pass out at a time to minimize full-on chaos!
Since this happened at the very end of the day, they’d take their box home and open thier valentines there. We weren’t allowed to pass out candy or treats due to allergies which I understand as a momma with a child with allergies and an epic-pen. But at past schools, we were allowed to pass out treats.
We also did different art projects throughout the week!
Here’s how other teachers are handling Valentine’s Day this year.

We even get to have a small celebration with prepackaged snacks and drinks I feel blessed.

In first grade we are all going to make valentine monster glyphs and write a nice note to someone in the class. We will draw names and keep them super secret! We will make them the Friday before we celebrate so they have time to quarantine and then I will pass them out to students during our “party” We are not allowing students to bring cards from home so hopefully they will enjoy the secret keeping part of these valentines instead.

I am going to have each student place valentines in individual paper bags. Then I am going to staple them shut to be opened at home! Also i am requesting for no names to be written on them so that it doesnāt take forever.

Our students are bringing in their valentines before to go into quarantine and the teachers are going to put them in their bags. Then the students are going to open their bags at home.

Decorating heart shaped cookies and virtual Valentine grams! For the cookies we are sending an email to families letting them know optional supplies to have. The valentine grams are being organized by the school PWC.

We have boxes in front of our school for when we need to send home things for virtual students. My students are dropping off their Valentines in the box the week before. I am āquarantiningā them for a week, then separating each studentās and placing them back in the box in a bag with their name to pick up the next week.

I was thinking to have kids make Google slides as a way to share valentines with each other. We are on quarantine right now so we wonāt be passing out anything
Laurel
We have gone completely virtual with our Valentineās Day cards. The students will all have a copy of an editable Google slide that will allow them to design their own digital card on Google Classroom.

Iām arranging with a local bakery to have students come in either day on Valentineās weekend to pick out a treat on me. It works out since the actual day is on the weekend and we just blame it on Covid. My 4th graders are very aware and cautious of spreading germs.

We are going to go on a valentineās theme scavenger hunt, what Disney movie does the love/friendship song belong to, and mad libs!

Iām going to have them each design a Google slide to create their own Valentine. Then Iāll put them together (still working out details) and weāll go through the slide show. They love graphic design!Iām also going to look for a Kahoot! To play. It will be just fun- probably about the holiday. Finally, Iām thinking of doing a guided drawing activity together via YouTube. Iām thinking of using https://youtu.be/Ko2OUdByUWs
