So Cal Teacher Meet Ups

When I began this blogging journey, I had no idea about teacher meet ups.  It reminded me a lot of online dating.  You've been following these people for months on social media.  You know their dog's name, what their outfit of the day is, and where they went on vacation.  But when it comes to actually meeting them…scary!
I was so nervous at the first meet up I not only attended, but hosted with Courtney from Ramona Recommends, back in March.  We've hosted a few others together and I've made wonderful friends from it.  We had fun in Las Vegas and even last month for Mexican food in Old Town, San Diego.
Do you recognize some of these amazing teachers?

If you know Courtney, you know she loves books!
So meeting these girls and so many other rockstar teachers on Saturday in Huntington Beach at Sandy's wasn't as scary because I've formed friendships with these amazing women!  Christy and Aris hosted an amazing meet up with Hadar.  There were over 40 people there, some new and some old friends!
Here's a list of some of the amazing bloggers that made it!

I love meet ups because not only do we make new friends, but we collaborate, share ideas, vent, ask questions, solve problems, and so much more.  Those ladies are an amazing network and filled with so much knowledge and innovative ideas.  If you haven't attended a teacher meet up in your area, do it!

My name is Kristen and I’ve enjoyed teaching kindergarten, first grade, a 1/2 combo, and second grade.  I’ve taught at both a low and high-performing Title I schools as well as a few fancy schools in California and O’ahu, Hawaii. I’ve earned my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading in addition to my Reading Specialist Certificate.  When I am not teaching my scholars or other educators at Professional Development classes, I  enjoy creating materials to share with my colleagues, organizing family literacy events, and giving workshops on ways to make Literacy Workshop effective and engaging.
